All our clients and our dogs are continually assessed in their initial six week period to ensure that they achieve the Kennel Club Puppy Foundation Award. There are a number of basic exercises that need to be met. These are taught and practised during our lessons, items such as sit, down and stand, walking on lead, being able to stay on command for a set period amongst other items. At the end of the six week period most dogs will have met the required standard and subject to their age will be awarded their Puppy Foundation Certificate and Rosette, this award is assessed internally, a few dogs may achieve the standard earlier. However, during your initial six week period, we not only teach you the basics to gain this award but we also teach you more advanced techniques and exercises towards the Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme Bronze Award so if you wish you can continue to work towards the Bronze Award. On receipt of your Puppy Foundation Award we like to move you from the Puppy / Beginners Class to Intermediate 1 (Bronze Class). Similarly, in this class we incorporate elements of the Silver Award and when this has been achieved we would move you into Intermediate 2 (Silver Class). Similarly, thereafter into the Advanced (Gold) class. It is not compulsory to enter and take these awards. If you reach the required standard but do not wish to go through exams we would move you anyway into the appropriate group level to suit your requirements.
