Before we allow any dogs into our classes we carry out a one to one assessment, to see the capabilities of the dog and also their handler to ensure that the dog /puppy is ready to attend classes, to gain the most out of the classes and without disrupting the rest of the group. The one to one is normally carried out in your home with all family members there so each can see what will be required to teach their dog, as continuity of commands is essential, so everybody needs to be “singing from the same hymn sheet”. We go through some of the basic commands and exercises to see how both you and your dog get on and to get to know both you (your family) and your dog better. This assessment usually takes 1½ – 2 hours. From this assessment we can then establish which of our classes would be most suitable for your dog.
